Online Learning 101

An introduction to library resources for students new to online learning.

Library Services

Many of the library's resources are available to you even if you're working online! We have provided the following FAQ to help clarify how you can access library services and resources from anywhere in the world.

What library resources can I access from home?

The library provides a large collection of online resources, including:

  • Journal articles
  • eBooks
  • Databases
  • Subject Guides

These and other resources are accessible through a collection of over 130 databases and/or SAGU Discovery. You can access SAGU resources using the same username/password that you use to access Blackboard or your Lionmail.

Additionally, the library can mail you print books from the library collection. Check out the detailed instructions below to find out how.

What if I have books checked out from the library?

When your books are due, simply mail them back to us! We ask that you mail them back priority (the post office takes better care of them this way). Our mailing address is:

Nelson Memorial Library
1200 Sycamore Street
Waxahachie, TX 75165

Can I get research help from librarians?

Yes! You can request help by emailing the library at library@sagu.edu. We are happy to help with your research, including

  • General research help
  • Guidance when you are starting a research assignment
  • Help with search strategies
  • Research consultations
  • Help with finding and using online resources

Pro Tip: The more details you provide, the better and more quickly we can help you!

Also, don't forget to check out the librarian-created Subject Guides! These are a great place to quickly find resources within your field of study.

Can I still request interlibrary loans (ILL)?

Yes! We are able to request books, chapters from eBooks, and articles through ILL. You can submit ILL requests by any of the following ways:

If you are a distance education student and live outside of easy driving range of SAGU, we can still request digital items (chapters of eBooks or articles), but you should work with your local public library to obtain print books through ILL.
