The Nelson Memorial Library is committed to offering library resources and services for Distance Education and Extension Site students. The following is a brief overview of library services availble to online and distance learning students.

Please note: You will need your Blackboard/Lionmail credentials in order to access resources from off-campus.

• Borrowing books, located from the library catalog.
• Request journal articles (and other digital items) through Interlibrary Loan
• Get research and reference assistance via email or phone
• Receive TexShare or ACL Reciprocal borrowing cards

How to get library books as an online student

The library is happy to mail print books to you if you live in the continental US and are too far away to drive to the library yourself.

1. Login to the library catalog using your Lionmail account.
   
   
   Make sure the displayed name changes to show your name after logging in:
   
2. Identify which books you'd like. Undergraduate students may check out up to 10 items, graduate students up to 15, and doctoral students up to 20.
3. Click-and-drag resources you'd like from your search results to the "My List" part of the menu bar 
   
   
   OR select "Add to My List" from the side of the item view
   
   
4. Once you have all the items you'd like added to your list, select the "My List" button. Here you can see all the items in your list. You can verify that everything you want is on there or remove any that you changed your mind on.
5. Select "Options" and then "Send to Librarian"
   
6. In the pop-up box, enter a message subject and your message. Please include your current mailing address. 
   
7. Receive the books through USPS priority mail.
8. Use the books! 
9. Mail them back to us. Books postmarked by their due date will not be considered late (although you might get an automatic email notice while they're in the mail). Our address is:

Interlibrary Loan services for Distance Education students (out of easy driving distance of a SAGU library) are limited to digital items (such as articles); for print items (such as books), students are encouraged to work with their local public library's Interlibrary Loan department to maximize checkout time with the book. Digital items typically arrive within two (2) to seven (7) days.

Once you discover a resource you would like from another library, there are several ways to request it:

1. In SAGU Discovery, click the "Request Item through Interlibrary Loan" button and enter your information.
2. In (most) SAGU databases, select the "Request Item through Interlibrary Loan" button and enter your information.
3. Email the abstract/bibliographic information directly from a database. Send your request to library@sagu.edu and make sure to include your Lionmail email address in the comment field.
4. Fill out this form.

We will process the request as quickly as possible and will email the item to you as soon as it becomes available or if we need more information to process your request.

SAGU does not charge patrons to borrow materials.
